Journal Entry – Lake Superior Trip – My Birthday

As for me, it is so great to spend time up here in the colorful wonderland for my birthday. Today was more cloudy than yesterday, so it was not a day to take photo of the colors, but it was a good day for hiking.

I guess that I need to back up to last night, since I continued to have problems with the furnace. It was warn in the trailer when I fall asleep, but I woke up at 2:00 am in a cold trailer, By the time I got the trailer warn and the furnace appeared to be running, I feel back to sleep and woke up at 8:30. That kind of delayed my day.

The sun was shining when I woke up, but by the time that I when hiking is was starting to overcast. This made it a poor day for photos, but the hiking was good. I sat on the big lava rocks on the shore of Lake Superior just listing and watching the gentle wave come in to the shore. It was a great feeling. As for the photos, I got great photos yesterday when the sun was out. Therefore, it makes for a good trip.

yesterday, after I when hiking, I stoped by the Harbor Haus (probably the nicest restaurant here) to make a reservation, but they stated that they were book until Wednesday, but they stated that they had seats for first come first serve. So, today, at 3:00, when they opened, I was there at 3:05 and I had to wait until 3:30 to get seated. Since I am here, I had the fish sampler that had four different types of local fish, and it was good. So, I am happy that I made that selection, since I can get salmon and cod at most any restaurant. At 6:00 this evening, I had local berry cheesecake and that was good.

With rain coming in, it is kind of dark here at 6:30, but the campground is packed. A lot of kids here, too. Some are sleeping out in tents. It is to get down to 50 degrees and rain, so it cannot be fun in a tent, especially with kids. It is so nice to be in a trailer, but it would be better when the furnace lites every time that it starts.

For tonight, I am going to watch True Grit, and I love watching this movie this time of the year and see the yellow aspens in the rocks, except for the shots around the dugout that was short in California. It does keep me in the fall mood.

It is suppose to rain tonight, and be windy tomorrow. I am still planning on driving to Ontonagon, and, with most of the highways to Ontonagon being in the woods, I am hoping that I will not get blown around with the wind. I am going to stop and pick up an electric space heater so I can use it and I do not have to worry about the finance not starting. At a campground, someone told me that I should always to a space heater, since I have already paid the campground for the electricity. They made a good point.

I guess that it is off to watch True Grit.
