After two days of travel, I am at Copper Harbor for two days. So far, the trip has been fine. On Tuesday, after I took my nephew’s wife and two children to Big Bend, I pulled the trailer up to Council Grounds State Park, just west of Merrill. It made for a nice short drive for the day. The park is in the woods next to the Wisconsin River, so it makes for a nice place for a short stop.
Yesterday, I drove to Ontonagon, Michigan, and it was another nice short drive. I stay at the township campground. Although the rates as far, it is first come first serve, so it is not too hard to find a lot to rent. Near the campground there about a mile long sand beach that I walk every time that I am there. Since it was around 75 degree yesterday, I walk on the beach in shorts barefoot, since it seemed like the right thing to do while I was there. The water is warm enough that any one could go swimming it this late in the year, With this being Lake Superior, the water is always suppose to be cold, but not with this warn summer. Well a walk of two miles is not the three miles that my doctor would like for me to put in, but walking in the sand does take more energy that walking on ground or pavement, so I feel that I am even with the requirement. There was a beautiful sunset last evening, so I took a few photos of the beach. Since I have been there before for sunsets this time of the year, I had no reason to take a lot of photos.
Today, I drove to Copper Harbor, and it was the shortest drive over the past three days. The leaves are in full color; I do not know when I have seen so much color up here, since I have been coming up here most every year that this time. When the sun comes out, the leaves are scarlet red. I am not sure how long they will last with a wind blowing right now, and I have seen the maple leaves come down over night with high wind and rain.
I do not really have any plans for the next two days, but I will go hiking everyday. Late this afternoon, I found a nice trail next to Lake Superior. I will just have to look on line for hiking trails.
I will just have to see what tomorrow brings.
