Can’t Leave Levelland

Four the past four weeks, it seems like I have been trying to leave Levelland, but forces beyond my control are keeping me here. It started with a respiratory infestation that everyone seemed to have after the holidays. It took me about ten days to get over. Then a big snowstorm came in and shut the entire area down. Yesterday, there was a major windstorm and I did not want to pull my trailer with 30 MPH wind gust out of the north.. Today, I got the trailer hooked up to the truck, started the engine in the truck, looked at the dash board, and it read that was a problem with the wiring to from the truck to the trailer. It looks like I just cannot win.

When I pushed the lever to activate the electric brakes, the trailer wheel brakes did not work. I call a local RV repair service and they came over to look at my wiring issue. It appears that there has been a short in the trailer’s braking system. I had noticed the smell of mechanical issues this morning hooking up the truck. When the service man got here, he noticed the same small around the trailer brakes. There plastic melting around the switch that activates the brakes if the trailer comes loose from the truck. There is also a melted wire in the wiring that runs along the tongue of the trailer. At this time, with the loose trailer switch melted, the wheels are locked and I cannot move the trailer.

Tomorrow around 10:00 the service man’s crew is to show up and replace the electrical parts in the wheels and the loose trailer switch. He feels like it showed take about three hours working out side on the gravel. I have a lot in a park rented for tonight and tomorrow night that is about 200 moles from here. At this time, I have to wonder if I can make it to the park before it gets dark tomorrow evening.

Mean while, I am still stuck in this park on a gravel lot. There is nothing scenic, no picnic table, and no hiking trials. It is really boring. As with the common saying, it is taking one day at a time and making the best out of each circumstance.
