I spent the day at the Marshal Space Center in Huntsville, Alabama, with the underlining theme being the director of the Marshall Space Flight Center, Wernher von Braun, a rocket scientist from Germany during Would War II. Although it may be unbelievable that the Nazi scientist that developed the V2 rocket to bring tare to England would put man on the noon. As for von Braun, he was a scientist first. The theme of US Rocket and Space Museum, the Marshal Space Center visitors center, is Wernher von Braun journey through his rocket career.
As a youth, Wernher developed an interest in rockets, and ended up as a Doctor of Philosophy in rocket science. With his interest the rockets, he became an officer in the German army. Since Hitler needed von Braun for his rocket program, he made him an officer of the SS that von Braun was never proud. With Germany losing the war, von Braun was moving all the documents on the V-2 rocket to a save place. Von Braun and his team were on the move to surrender to the Americans. With the help of his brother Magnus, he surrendered to Private First Class Frederick Schneider of the 44th Infantry Division at hotel Haus Ingeburg in Bavaria. Regarding the US Counter Intelligence, they were looking for German scientists under Operation Paperclip. Von Braun was a scientist that they were looking for at the time.
Von Braun arrived in the Untied States at Fort Bliss, Texas, on September 20, 1945. He started by teaching the US scientist about the V-2 rocket. From Fort Bliss, the von Braun moved to Huntsville. Although things seem to be slow during the 1940s and 1950s. these pick up in the early 1960s, as we all know. Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo are all everyday names that we all were aware of as we grew up in the 1960’s. Von Braun was there through all of the rocket trials, failures, and successes.
Although most people were not aware of the name von Braun, he played the major part of the successful space program in the USA. This would include rocket missiles that the military uses. If von Braun had not brought his knowledge from Germany, the USA would have been lagging in a space program. It is obvious that the Soviet Union would have lead the USA in the space program in both human exploration and military rockets. It is really hard to determine what the USA would look like today without von Braun’s knowledge.
Since World War II, the Jews have been looking for German and SS officer to try for war crimes, and probably rightfully so. However, as we follow the progression of the Jews, they have been bring officers to trial that are in their nineties and they were Nazi for sixty-five years. The Jews seem to be relentless on this topic. If the Jews were looking for Nazi officers during operation Paperclip, then the to science accomplishment that the world as seen since WWII would have never occurred. By going back to when the US solders forced the German officers, but not the SS officers, to see concentration camps, they had no idea that these concentration camps never existed. Many clammed that they did not know what they were fighting for, since the concentration camps made them sick. It is clear that von Braun was never around these concentration camps, since he has a clear mind to work on rocket science.
Life is always much more complicated than it seems. However, in the case of von Braun, he did bring good research to the for ground that we still use every day today (spins off of the space program into our daily life is incredibly). Although von Braun came through questionable times, he lead an invaluable science in our world, although most of the time out of sight of our society.
