It has been really hot here in Wisconsin this summer, and I started looking for a cool place for a few days. On Sunday, I took the train to Chicago and walk the lake shore. It was cooler, but not all that cooler. Last week I started looking for state campgrounds along Lake Michigan, but they are really booked this time of year. However, I did find a camp site here at Point Beach State Forest north of Manitowoc for two nights. I know that it is a long drive for two nights, but with this hot weather, it seems like it is worth the trip.
When I get up this morning, it was raining. Around 10:30, the rain let up, so I hooked on to the trailer, but I still got wet. It was a wet drive up here today, but it was fund looking at the crops all full grown now. I do not know why, but there is always this box feeling this time of the year with the corn full height. When it becomes harvest time, it feels like the corn has been full height for nine month and not nine weeks. It goes to prove that perception is everything, and not reality.
I keep noticing that there is more wheat being grown here in Wisconsin every year. Although I am a little curious why, it does hold the soil on all of the hills here, and it is so much better for the terrain than corn or soybeans. The market prices for corn, soybeans, and wheat has to be changing, but there is a big demand for corn for ethanol, and I do not see the ethanal plants here like they are in Iowa I am not sure that I understand what is happening.
After studying framing in Wisconsin, I found out that Wisconsin was the wheat stated before it was the dairy states. With the closing of the family dairy farms, maybe this state with go back to growing wheat.
I did go walking on the beach after supper, and it was fun walking bare foot. Now I have all day tomorrow to enjoy the cooler weather and walking bare foot on the beach.
