It was seven degrees here in New Iberia this morning. I stayed in the hotel this morning waiting for it to warm up a little. The city was completely shut down, as it was yesterday. By noon the dark areas under the snow, like asphalt, started to melt. By 2:00, the streets were passable, with the snow melted wheel ruts down to the pavement, except for the areas that shaded by buildings and tresses. My drive to my trailer was basically driving in the wheel ruts. Had to be careful not to drive on the side of a deep wheel ruts. It was nice and peaceful in the park, and it seemed like I should stay, but with the temperature going down to 14 degrees tonight, I came back to the hotel. It was just after 4:00 when I left the park and it was surprising to see how much snow had melted at 34 degrees, but the sun has so much power. I ate the Waffle House again tonight, since it was the only place open. It is hard to see all of the fast food places closed, with the snow cleared off of the streets.

My trailer is servicing this weather without any problems. It is not using much propane and that is good, since the places that sells propane are closed. By staying in the Hotel, I do not have to worry about run out of propane staying there. I just found one problem. Yesterday, after I opened the valve to the fresh water, it froze from the outlet to the ground with one big icicle. I can only hope that the ice did not expand enough to break the out let pipe. I will find out tomorrow for sure.

It is interesting to see the difference with the snow melting off of the streets/highways without snow plow and/or salt. When driving in the snow that has not been plowed, it is hard for the vehicle to leave the tracks and slid off of the road. Sometimes when driving on plowed streets/highways, it is easier to slide off of the road without the snow on the side of the wheels. As this morning, it is harder to drive, since driving up on the side of frozen wheel ruts may cause the vehicle to move uncontrollably. I guess that driving without snow plowing and/or salt; and with snow plowing and/or salt has there good and bad point. As for me, I think that I would prefer no snow plowing, with no salt, since it seems like I have more control of the vehicle. But, then again, I am driving a full sized pick up truck with all wheel drive, so I suppose that I an cheating, since most people do not have the driving equipment that I have to drive.

With the temperate going down to 14 degrees tonight, so I am happy that I am back in the hotel. With the stores being open tomorrow, I will get propane and maybe I will return to my trailer.
