The behavior of the US Senators during the current confirmation hearings are the result of the Seventeenth Amendment where the US senators are more concern with getting reelected than focusing on states rights, as the Constitution was written. When looking at the childish behavior of the Senators, this is a poor reflection of the US government, when they should be worried about is sovereignty of the Constitution. By reading the comments of the Founding Fathers, they are behaving as they predicted, and now the world population has to watch there poor human behavior. This portion of the Constitution has deflected from the visions of the Found Fathers.
The US Senate was to bring stability to the US government, with the senators being responsible to the stated legislators. Article 1, Section 3.1, of the US Constitution clearly states the senators were to be chosen by the stated legislators. This means that the senator were to be responsible for state rights, including sovereignty of the Constitution that would include, but not limited to, impeachment and presidential cabinet confirmations. The Founding Fathers did look the stability of Britain’s House of Lords when writing the Constitution.
There are counties that want to succeed from their state, since these states are polarized internally by different political differences. Is this because the states have limited state rights with the US Government? This is a tough question to answer, but, if the Senators were focused on the state legislatures instead of the voting population, it does become clear that the senators would be more interested in the sovereignty of the states. This is good reason to repeal the Seventeenth Amendment instead of letting the counties secede from their state to an other state.
The Senators were not to worry about being reelected, since they were to worry about the sovereignty of the country, by being concern about the sovereignty of the states. In other words, the senators roll was to legislate items for the sovereignty of both the county and to states.
The senators roll is to confirm the president’s cabinet members. The senator’s roll is confirmation each member of the cabinet based on the sovereignty of the country and states, and not on the best interest of the people, since the senators are to represent the state legislatures. But, with the senators being responsible to the people, they are not asking questions during the confirmation based on the sovereignty of this country. If senators feel like they are loosing their continuants, they act like spoiled children in front of the national filming of their questioning. There are exceptions, as seen in the recent round of questioning for Donald Trump. US Senator Grassley was questioning Pam Bondi for the attorney general position, and he stated, “I would like to respectively interrupt you.” There is such a thing today as a prestigious senator. Do these senators act like spoiled children feel that they are going to get respect? When they act like spoiled children, the fair and balanced news media has a field day showing their poor behavior, and their poor behavior is televised in other counties that demeans this country on a world stage. Is this that it comes down to when senators are elected by the people? The repeal of the Seventeenth Amendment needs to be reviewed.
What are the chances of the Seventeenth Amendment being appealed? Probable not too good, since the powerful Senators will feel like they are loosing power if they do not represent the people. But, if the repeal could get out of congress, the states would probably ratify the amendment, since they would receive more power from the US Government. This should be stated that the repeal of the Seventeenth Amendment should include the areas that did not work before the amendment.
During the drafting of the US Constitution, the House of Lords was reviewed by the Founding Fathers, and they did apply satiability of the House of Lords in the US Senate, since the Lords are not responsible to the citizens. Today, there are many ways to be come a Lord, but probably not so many at the time of the Founding Fathers. They were from established families that were given titles, and pasted down through the families by birth of the oldest males; there were land Lords; and there were also church Lords. The most important job of the Lords is to review bills going through the Parliament. Since these position came from people that had an interest in the country, it brought stability to the government that caught the interest of the Founding Fathers.
There was corruption with the appointment of the Senators by the states. It seems this is the first constitution written with a senate, so there were areas that needed to be amended. The senate was to lift provident men into an entitled position in government, but this did not always happen. There was infighting in the state legislatures to selected a senator. With the Constitution requiring half of the state legislature to select a senator, this was almost impossible when more than two senators running for office. Senators could take a sabbatical during there term. The result was that there was always empty seats in the Senate. Instead of amending the Constitution to eliminate the ills in the Constitution, they ratified an Amendment that was an over extension of the current issues in the senate.
With more to research that needs to be done on the Seventeenth Amendment, this essay is labeled Part I. The question is: has the Seventeenth Amendment had the biggest negative effect on the Constitution? This is why there needs to be more research on this topic. Also, without to citizens knowing much about the Seventeenth Amendment, it is hard to say if it will ever get repealed.
By reviewing the Trump confirmation hearings, it is clear that today’s Senate is not the stable part of the legislation branch that the Founding Fathers were looking for during the drafting of the Constitution. It becomes clear that this country is suffering without stability in our government. The big question is can this country move to a more stable government. Another question is can this country survive by being unbalanced as it is today. Only time will tell. But, as the government is now, it is deflected from the government in visioned during their drafting of the US Constitution.
