Journal Entry – Snowbird – Sixth Day

It was a nice day here with the temperature at 72 degrees and little to no winds, so it is short sleeve weather, again. Since I had a nice campsite, I thought that I should spend another day there, but the cold weather is coming south, so I drove to the Shiloh Battlefield Site this afternoon. My first twenty miles were again on highways with poor safety features. It looks like I need to look at the map more closely to determine the better highways, but each stated labels there secondary highways differently. I did stop at the Parker Crossing Battlefield. Since they did not have a place for me to park my rig, I did not stay long.

I got into a state park campground seventeen miles south of the Battle of Shiloh, so I will have to drive up there tomorrow. I am finding that the camping rates in the federal or state campgrounds are reasonable. I do not understand why camp sites, without amenities, along the major highways are twice the cost. Of course, campsites like Yogi Bear are much more expensive. Now, it is on to tomorrow.
