Journal Entry – Ontonagon Gal

For days the weather forecast has been a Gal in this area, so I thought that it would be nice to live through a Gal. The last two days were nice, and even the person coming in last night next to me, seems like they were come to enjoy their time. But, when we, those in the area, woke up the morning wind was blowing hard. Although the temperature was in the lower 50s, the furnace was running often, but keeping the trailer warn. They might stated that these trailers are for cold conditions, but there is infiltration of the wind. When sitting in the trailer, it was being pushed by the 40 mph gust.

After breakfast, I walked down the lake front it seems like it was a mad sea. I am sure that some of the waves were fourteen feet. Unlike the nine-foot waves that I saw here last here, this was much more intense. This year the deep waves were out as far as I could see, but last year they were more located near the shore, like 1,000 feet out. During in the walk, I saw many of the RVs leaving. I was kind of wondering about pulling a trailer in this wind. But, from another point of view, what was there to do here in this wind? By evening, it seems like 80 % of the RVs were gone, by there was a few that came in this afternoon, and most of them parked in the lots next to the lake, and, with this wind, it seems like they are getting push around tonight. I also could not imagine set up a trailer in this wind. When I got here, I was look for a lot not next to the lake, but they were full anyway, but most of them are open tonight.

After spending most of the morning reading, I took photos of the lake shore. The fourteen waves looked deep. Since there was log and log roots on the shore, it was fun taking photos of how Mother Nature arranges the shore line and it is way to take great photos, if I do not say so myself. (Maybe it is the arrangement of things on the beach and not my photography.)

I traveled to an historic village of Victoria. There was a few log cabins left from mining copper. I spent some time getting my hiking in. However, once I was away from the lake, the wind was not so bad. So, maybe the RVs leaving did not have to deal with the winds, as they would have driving the shoreline. With the winds dissipating this evening, I will feel comfortable pulling the trailer tomorrow.

At sundown, the clouds were moving out. So, yes, I was out taking photos again. It is a different perspective watching the sun going down. But there is sand is blowing like snow in the winter time. It blows across the sidewalks and streets. Since some people hate to shovel snow, just try sand. The is sand in your mouth, in your eyes, in your hair, and in your clothes. It seems like I should wax my truck, since it seems like it was sandblasted today. It is something to get use to if you live here year around.

As for me, it is not too hard for me to fill up my time when I am forced to be inside. So, this afternoon I did write, but I a sure that other watch TV or something else that is boring. It seems like the wind is down a little this evening, or, at least, the wind is not blowing the trailer around, but the furnace is still running.
