Deflection

The question often comes up is how bright is a narcissist. This is a good questions, since they often come across as being empty headed. Are they empty head? Or, are they playing a phycological game? For the person on the other end of their wrath, it is hard to figure out where they are coming from. Or, they want you to know that they are intelligent, but they also want to come across as not being intelligent to set their opponent up for disaster.

Narcissist want everyone to know that they are intelligent, especially when they do not have education or experience in the topic that they are working with at the time. It can be comical to watch a narcissist defend themselves on a topic that they know nothing about. As we all grow up, we all attend the same schooling, and we came out learning what we need to survive in this world. For those that are highly intelligent, they will continue to learn their whole life. I had a colleague/retired professor that is was stated that he put his death in his work schedule, since he was working up to the day that he died of blood cancer.

A narcissist cannot be highly intelligent. As stated by Robert Einstein: “Success comes from curiosity, perseverance, and self criticism,” and “The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existence.” With the high level of insecurities of a narcissist trying to find something secure to attach to, they do not have the time to become curious and/or try to persevere on any topic. If a narcissist was to self criticize themselves, they would have to admit that they are not an expert on all topics, and that will not happen, since then the will have to become insecure and vulnerable as seen by others. A narcissist will never ask a question, since it means that they do not know the topic. A narcissist has to feel like they are number one at all times, or others have to pay for their insecure feelings. There is no way that a highly intelligent person can ever become a narcissist.

As stated above, narcissists are forced to learn through school and some may go on to college. It is probably fair to state that narcissist are probably more apt to learn in their younger years. But, as the years go by, the narcissists seems to find a plateau with their learning, since it seems like their insecurities increase as time goes in their lives. But, in much later years, if they live that long, they seem to mellow out, as if there is nothing that makes them feel insecure. So, with them being highly insecure, they find being an expert in all categories is a way of feeling secure, as a self-fulfilling proficiency.

So, from this point on, it is important to look at intelligence as if they are playing games, and this is a topic that is often discussed. It is true that they will focus on circumstances that will make them look good, causing them to lie or play amnesia. Oh yes, they will lie to make themselves look good, and, that unfortunate, since there are bigger issue to accomplish that what is in there small world. Although a person does not want to write down every event in their lives to protect themselves from a narcissist, but what is a person suppose to do when a person says that they do not remember a negative episode in their lives? With a narcissist knowing that people do not write down events, they use their amnesia to their advantage around others. Based on intelligence, it seems like they use their intelligence to manipulate others. But, as I have eluded to, these narcissists take time out of a normal persons lives, when a normal person has so many other things in life to accomplish. This is so sad.

When it comes to the intelligence of narcissist, we know that they cannot have a high intelligence, since a highly intelligent person is way too curious to be a narcissist. But, as a highly intelligent people are targets for narcissist, since the narcissist is determined to bring the intelligent person down to their level. Narcissist will reach a plateau in their intelligence, since their insecurities will not allow them to increase their knowledge. They will manipulate others by lying or using amnesia to their advantage, and, in these situations, it is hard to determine if they are intelligent or naive. Any way that this topic is looked at, narcissists are going to use their intelligence to their advantage to live in their world.
