Journal Entry

Today, I traveled from Whitewater to Rochester, Minnesota. Although my hearing aid appointment is not until Wednesday, I came up a day early for a little rest and relaxation. Well maybe not. The weather is to be plus or minus zero degrees while I am up here. When it get below zero, it is a little tough to get outside exercise. But, if it is above zero, it seems like it would be best to cross country ski. As I have found out in the past, it is easier to put my skis on as compared to my snowshoes. I will just have to see what the next few days bring. But I will have plenty of time to type, and I do find typing to be relaxing, since I guess that I am typing my frustrations out, if I feel that I have frustration.

It was a beautiful drive up here today. Sure it was cold, but my truck puts out plenty of heat. A situation that we had forty years, when we would put cardboard or the trucks would but canvas over the radiators to keep the cold wind coming through the radiator and supper cold the antifreeze. As I would out early this fall, my truck has fins install just behind the radiator, after I got a light to check the engine. These fins stop the cold wind from coming through the radiator when it is cold. Talk about a major improvement. It was like $900 to replace the fins.

There is probably about sixteen inches of snow in Whitewater and ten inches here in Rochester. But the terrain was beautiful. With the recent snow fall, there was no blemishes in the snow.

As for tomorrow, I will see what the weather has to offer to see if I will do any cross country skiing, like in the afternoon when it is warmer, if anyone calls five degrees warm. I brought my heave cloths in to keep then warm over night. The question will be where to ski at. About thirty miles southeast of here is the Root River trail that is on an old railroad track, but that is a ways to go for a short ski. There is a hiking trail just south of Rochester that might work.  I do plan on typing tomorrow.
