Journal Entry

I got the internet back, so I guess that I can type a journal entries again.

I was going to drive down to Appleton today, but the winds had come up this morning. They were around 20 mph hour with gust around 25 miles per hour. So, when I can into the city of Ontonagon, I found an opening in the campground next to Lake Superior. As the sun was going down, the winds were 30 mph with 40 mph gust, or the waves are from 6 to 9 feet. I decide that this was not the best weather to be pulling my trailer. In the morning, the winds are to be at 15 mph, so I will be able to pull the trailer in this kind of winds.

After hiking 7.5 miles on Tuesday, 8.2 miles on Wednesday, and 7.5 miles on Thursday, I was worn out. On Tuesday, was the hardest hiking on rocks and tree roots in 80 degree heat. That was a challenging day. It was kind of nice having the day off, well kind of, I still got 5 miles of walking in. But I am hoping for a good night’s rest. Sometime as little hard with sore muscles.

In the evenings, I have been on the beach during the sunset. On Wednesday and Thursday, I took my boots off and walked barefoot in the sand. It was a little cold on Thursday night, but the water was warm. As I walk, I can feel my nerves being stimulated all the way through my spinal cord. Each night, I got great photos. Actually, as I review my photos, there is one last evening and one tonight that are the best of the all the photos that I took. As the great photographers state, do not put the camera away when the sun goes down.

People have asked me to take photos of the nine-foot waves. So, I did. I will state that the ones that I took just before dark are the most ominous. The deep waves coming in with the dark clouds. It is flat out eerie. I can only wonder what the sailors on the SS Edmund Fitzgerald feel with the waves coming onto the ship the night that it went down. I can still remember the news of the ship going down. As far as being in a trailer that is kind of protected by trees, every few minutes I feel the trailer move from the wind gust hitting it.

With the winds down tomorrow, I will travel to Appleton for a couple of days before returning the Whitewater. This will be a mice trip, since I will be visiting cousin. I an not sure when I will find time to type again, but I will document what is going on in our lives as time permits.
