Journal Entry

Today, I started my journey around Lake Superior. After spending three days in Rothschild at the Wisconsin American Legion Convention, it is time to move on.

I spent that last four nights in Big Eau Pleine Campground. It is a nice campground next to the Wisconsin River in Marathon County, with nice walking trails. It was in an area of tall trees. When it rained, the campsite was well protected. When I was looking for a camp ground, it stated that this campground was just a few miles from Mosinee. But, as it turned out, it was a thirty minute drive to Rothschild. Next time I will have to take a closer look at the location before I reserve the campground.

But the problem was that the campground had no wifi and the was no cellular coverage. So, I was unable to send out my Journal Entries. Therefore, regarding the rest of my trip, I am going to be in remote areas. So, although my goal is to document my trip around Lake Superior, I might be limited by internet coverage. I looked on the coverage map, and I will have no coverage tomorrow night. So, you can plan on no Journal Entry.

Tonight’s campground is kind of on the way to Canada. After leaving the Rothschild area, I selected Baraga State Park that is across the highway from Keweenaw Bay. So, I am on Lake Superior. It is southeast of Houghton. There is nothing here, not even a trail. For $24, I get electricity. So, it is serving its purpose for tonight.

Tomorrow, it is off for Muskellunge Lake State Park and the park is between the lake and Lake Superior. Since it is on the south side of Lake Superior west of Sault Ste. Marie, it has high sandy beaches coming off of Lake Superior. So, it looks like a good place to be. Therefore, I will plan to leave here like around 9:00 and get there early in the afternoon, so that I can hike there in the afternoon.

Well, it is Sunday evening and I feel like relaxing, so this is enough typing for the evening. Since mom and I have gotten close over the the past year, I wonder if she is missing me. As attached as I have gotten to her, it was hard for me to leave, but I need to leave from time to time for me. I will check to see how mom is doing.
