Rained all day with the high just into the 60s. If I remember correctly, it was in the 90s last month. This weather is hard to determine what is going on this year. To be in the 80s in a few days.
I spent the last few days sin northern Wisconsin working on my lots. It is strange that we have had nice days until yesterday noon. Since the snow melted, like three weeks ago, I have wanted to go and survey my lots trying to locate my new house on these lots. So, I finally got a chance to get up to the lots. Dan Blomberg and I laid out the area to be surveyed before noon. Then we discussed taking time for lunch, but we did not know how much time we had before the rain would start, we decided to push on with the survey before stopping for lunch, but then the air turned cool. With in a few minutes, it slowly started to sprinkle. But, since we had laid out where we need to take the ground shots, Dan just kept moving back and forth with the rod and I kept recording the vertical measurement from the level. The paper the I was writing on got wet, but we pushed on, since I could read the faint pencil marks. To insure my survey, we took the time to close the survey by ending with the measurement from the beginning hub. After getting back to the house last night, I calculated my survey and I was off 0.33 feet. Not real good, although we rushed through the survey in the rain, but I can work with the survey. In other words, I will get the topographic map that I need to locate the house, driveway, and leach field for the septic tank.
I am now going to plan to build the new house on May 15, since I feel that the housing industry has stabled to the point that I can now look at building the house. But, come September, I will take a closer look at building industry. The log company that I will be purchasing my house from likes to have a commitment six months before delivery. As I have seen with so many houses being built during the winter, the construction materials never get climatized and years later that are cracks in the drywall, so I prefer to start building in the spring and letting the materials climatize over the summer, but I should state that the house will not have any drywall, but still a good idea to have the materials climatize over the summer months. Therefore, since the county will not allow trucks on county roads until May 15, when the frost is out of the ground, this becomes my starting date.
I do believe that mom missed me while I was gone for a few days. When I picked her up from RESPITE this afternoon, she was happy to see me. After getting into the house, we sat on the couch and she was very affectionate, and she put her had on my thigh and put her head on my shoulder. Although when it comes to being found people with dementia, it is hard to know what their state of mind is at the time, since they can change their mood from hour to hour. But I am finding that they are affectionate, although it may take time to gain their trust by being there everyday. Therefore, although most people seem to stay away from dementia people, they are missing the big issue by not feeling the love that they have for other people.
I am feeling exhausted tonight. On Saturday, I hiked on Rib Mountain. Since I have been studying Wisconsin Geology, and I am still studying although I am retired, Rib Mountain has unusual geology, since all of the rock are younger than the rocks in the mountain. The area of Rib Mountain was sand at one time probably from the shallow ocean that was over the area. The area was metamorphosed and the sand became quartzite (a hard rock). So, the mountain did not move during glaciation. It was fun to hike and then I walked my lots yesterday, that are on a hill and covered with branches that were cut tow years ago. I guess that I will sleep good to night.
