Today was a rather nice day, sunny (high of 40 degrees), warm, and no wind, but I did not get a chance to enjoy it until after 4:00.
I had my day all planed this morning like any engineer: I was going to organize my notes for Bible study this morning, attend a video conference at 12:00 regarding dementia, attend a dementia support group at 4:30, and attend a video conference Bible Study at 7:00. As it turned out, I only attended the Bible Study at 7:00. At 8:00, my sister called and stated that my nephew’s wife had blockage in her esophagus. So, at 8:30, I was taking care of my 87 year old mom with dementia, a 3 year old grand niece, and a one year old grand nephew. My nephew is completely adorable. He crawled lighting fast and he can stand for about 20 seconds. He is the best natured baby that I have ever seen. If he cries, it is because he is hunger. He follows me around from time to time, but watches his sister all of the time. He will play by himself, if he wants to at the time. He loves to have my cuddle him. He fell asleep for his nap on my lap. After he woke up, he cuddled into my lap. He is an unbelievable kid. His sister is more hyperactive and is having a few development issues. Since she is having difficulties with her speech, she get frustrated because she cannot express her self. Other than the hyper activity, she is a good kid and fun to be around.
Mom was kind of quiet today. She had friends come by to see her, and she had a massage here at home this afternoon. Since she does not like taking medication, the massage helps her relax her muscles.
With my nephew’s wife not getting here until 4:00, as stated above, I missed everything but the Bible Study. After 4:00, I went for a 2.3 mile hike in the woods before dark, I got supper for mom and I, and I got my Bible notes in order within five minutes before the video conference started. For some reason, being just after the Holliday break, Bible Study stopped on time at 8:00. Now I am writing this Journal entry. And, who stated that retirement was relaxing.
