And more rain with a high of 60 degrees. There has been so much rain that it look like the farmers do not have many acres planted and it is muddy. With this being the last day of April, it seems like it is going to be a late planting season.
As I was going through my stuff today, I found a article on the death of Stephen Ambrose on October 17, 2002 at the age of 66, or at my current age. I found this to be surprising that I am at the same age, since I am in good health. As requested by the Mayo Clinic, I did have my DNA reviewed, and it reviled that I have no genes that would contribute to cancer. This does not seem to be surprising, since there is no cancer in my family and we are now living into our nineties. When I have studied DNA, it is certain that the with the correct DNA it is almost impossible to get cancer. But, when a person add smoking to their life still, the smoke will mutate the DNA and all bets are off when it comes to cancer. And, if you study the additive brain, once a person starts smoking they will be come addicted to smoking, since their brain will find pleasure in the constant stimulation of the smoke chemicals coming in from the blood. From what people have stated about Dr. Ambrose, they would find him in his college office with the entire room filled with smoke.
From another point of view, I found it sad that the solders that were featured in Dr. Ambrose’s writings were alive when he past away. Dick Winters pass away at the age of 92 in 2011, and the older and last of Band of Brothers to pass away was Don Malarkey at the age of 96 in 2017. It is so unusual for the historian to die before the people that they research and write about, since usually the historian is writing about people that have past on.
As one interesting point, it was the Band of Brothers that went to Dr. Ambrose. After they were successful in getting an appointment with him, they brought all of the written material to them, basically Dick Winter had a room, like an office in his house, with all of the written materials. The then when on to stated that they were upset with the false stories and Hollywood movies made about World War II, and they asked Dr. Ambrose the write books about the information that they had provided him. As they say, the rest is history.
